Hey Fit Fans!
Happy hump day! I hope you are thinking pink during breast cancer awareness month. Yesterday I read an article about the benefits of exercise before, during and after being diagnosed with breast cancer. It all makes perfect since! Now, while researchers are still doing studies, once again getting exercise regularly and maintaining a healthy diet, comes out on top.
You may be asking why? What good will exercise do? So, here are a few great reasons that prove exercising reduces the risk of breast cancer.
First of all, an over production in estrogen has been found as a major reason people develop breast cancer. The more fat on your body, the more estrogen your body produces. An overweight person verses someone with lower body fat is going to have a higher estrogen level. So...how do you lower your estrogen? Exercise, eat healthy, and loose weight. The studies say "getting 5-10% of your weight off" will lead to less risk of breast cancer. Secondly, insulin levels are another factor that contributes to the big BC. Having too much insulin is not good for you, and overweight or obese people tend to produce too much. Again, exercise and a healthy diet can lower your weight and insulin production. So, there you have it....30 minutes of exercise a day can really help lower the risk of breast cancer. I know there are a lot of people very affected by this terrible disease. Please help spread the word that with just a little exercise and change in your diet and lifestyle you can change for good! THINK PINK!
Lastly, are you walking or running for breast cancer this month? There are always walks going on in most major cities! Check it out, get active, stay active and reduce your risk of breast cancer!
