Hey Fit Friends!
It's Friday.....finally! With Christmas getting closer, my weeks tend to get busier and busier. So happy for the weekend....not that it will slow down, but I'll be happy to sleep past 4:15😃
Today is Fit Baby's Christmas party at school. There was a sign up on the door, and you could choose what you wanted to bring. I chose the fruit platter and knew I wasn't going to JUST do a fruit platter. I wanted to get creative. My friend at work found some really cute Christmas trees on Pinterest that were fruit trees, so I thought I would try it out.
First I bought strawberries, grapes, cantelope, watermelon, apples and a carrot......oh and marshmallows for "snow around the tree". For this project, you use toothpicks which we already had. The base of the tree is the apple and carrot held together with toothpicks. Then you just place the toothpicks around the carrot and build your tree with fruits to the top. It is such a cute idea!
And EPIC FAIL! As I reached the top of the tree, it started to lean. As I tried to balance out the fruit so it would stay center, I noticed it wasn't just the top that was leaning....my toothpicks in the base had gotten soggy and were not holding my tree up. It was a sad moment as my tree came crashing down.😪 I did take all the fruit off the tree and make it into a giant fruit salad. Fit Baby's class WILL have fruit...just not in the form of a Christmas tree.
I think next time, I will try something a little more sturdy for the base. It's a cute project, and I wish it would have stayed together. See pics below😃
Happy weekend and stay fit!
