Hey Fit Readers!
Happy Monday!
Part 2 of my birth story:
When we arrived at Texas Women's Hospital, the nurse checked me and I was dilated 3 cm. Still a ways off, but we were told that we would have a baby late that night or early the next morning. When we knew we were there for the night, we decided it was time to make arrangements for Fit Baby boy. Our neighbors had offered to watch him and have him spend the night. His very first sleep over! So, Bill took him to our neighbor's house and then came back to the hospital. We were so grateful to have someone watch him since all of our family is in Dallas.
The next seven hours were pretty much a piece of cake...which was totally crazy considering my long painful birth with Fit Baby boy! I was immediately given an epidural and patosin, so I basically got to lay in bed and just wait to dilate to 10 cm. In the mean time, we watched tv, text messaged friends and family, and hung out. One of my friends text me to let me know F.R.I.E.N.D.S was on and it was the one where Rachel has her baby.....how appropriate! So, I enjoyed getting to watch it while I was in the hospital anticipating the birth of my baby!
2am rolled around and I told the nurse I felt some pressure on my left hip. She checked me and sure enough, I was dilated 10cm and it was time to push! Exciting! She had me do a "practice push" before calling the doctor in. She then confirmed that it was GO TIME! Bill was asleep on the couch next to me and the nurse quietly said "ok, Dad, time to get up". At this point he must have been dreaming because he rolled over and fell back asleep. The dr came in and got his gear on, the lights came out of the ceiling, the rest of the nursing and delivery staff got in position....and this time, the nurse loudly said, "dad, get up! It's go time!"
He was up and right by my side! The best and most encouraging person to have next to me!
3 contractions 3 pushes later, Molly Kristin Pyle was here! She was born at 2:41am weighing 6lb 14oz and 18.5 inches long!
What a day! From kickboxing to birth!
We couldn't be happier!
