Hey Fit Fans!
I hope all of your holidays were great and you are back in the swing of things at work and home. Happy New Year....what are you doing NEW this year? Anything? Any resolutions? As a personal trainer, my schedule just got busier due to the most common resolution being: weight loss! This time of year in the health club environment is always fun! You see new faces, workout classes are packed, and your day is filled with giving advice on what you love!
So for all of you that are focusing this year on weight loss, here are a few tips I give my clients:
1. Count your calories....use My Fitness Pal on a daily basis to put all of your food in a diary and it calculates the calories for you!
2. Eat more fiber and protein than carbs and fat. This will keep you fuller longer!
3. Eat small meals...portion control! And eat 5 small meals: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner.
4. Give yourself 30 minutes a day for active exercise. This improves overall health while burning calories! Take a walk, jog, lift weights, chase your kids...just do something that brings your heart rate up for 30 minutes!
I hope you are all off to a great start with your exercise and diets this new year! As a new year, try and make this resolution last throughout the year. I usually see my health club slow down a little (people quitting when they don't see results in one month) around February and March. Try and stick with your resolution all year long in 2014!!
Stay FIT friends, and stay tuned for more posts! Happy New Year!
