Hey Fit Fans!
Happy Friday, and if you are a Houstonian...happy Go Texan day! Yee Haw! It's that time of year y'all! The Houston Rodeo! For most people, the rodeo means the cook off, BBQ, drinking, concerts, and carnival rides. In our house, it means parking! My busy husband runs and operates (through his company) some of the parking for the rodeo which means he is working late some nights.
As a personal trainer, I hear many complaints and concerns with not knowing how to "cook for one" without being wasteful. Really it's an excuse, but I do see where some people find it hard to cook for just one rather than for two or a family. Well, I'll tell you what I cooked last night...."for one" while my husband was working late.
One 6oz piece of salmon baked in the oven. One bag of brown rice on the stove. One spinach salad tossed. It took 15 minutes and was delicious. I also have left over rice to heat up with my meal tonight.
I think people get carried away trying to make elaborate meals which could easily be wasteful if you don't plan to heat up the leftovers. If you are eating clean and counting your calories, "cooking for one" isn't so hard! 1 protein, 1 starch, and one leafy green salad or veggie.
I hope this helps some of you who may wonder..."how will I cook "for one"?"
Happy weekend and happy rodeo! Yee Haw!
